OK, so I'm betraying the Geek Side of my Force, but does anyone else watch this, or has at least seen in the past year or so? It's become like Hullabaloo for cancelled science fiction stars. The most notable inclusion is Farscape's Ben Browder (who I would watch read a phone book), and he managed to drag along Claudia Black, from the same series. If you watch the Sci-Fi Channel, or have been an aficionado of the genre long enough, you'll know that certain stars just keep showing up on each other's programs.

This season's SG apparently brings into the fold Louis Gossett Jr. ("Enemy Mine") and Julian Sands ("Warlock"). Also appearing are Beau Bridges and Mitch Pileggi ("X Files"). They even got that gal who played "Andromeda" on the eponymous series, Lexa Doig. Ya gotta wonder if some of them camp out on a Vancouver backlot with a hastily-drawn sign, "Will dress in fantasy costume for food."

I'll tip my ballcap to the first person who can name the two "Star Trek" franchise regulars who previously starred on "Benson."

Jeezus. It's so hot when you talk nerd. Geek to me, baby! Geek to me. tongue.gif

Is SG-1 the one with McGyver? (God he aged well....I'd play daddy games with him any time.) And the kid from Parker Stevens (another hottie)? If so, is it wrong to touch yourself whilst watching SciFi channel?

"For mine own part, it was all Geek to me." (Shakespeare: Julius Caesar, I. ii.) ;)

Pileggi is on the "Altlanis" version, which isn't as chock fulla hotness, except for ex-"Baywatch Hawaii" eye-candy, Jason Momoa (who manages to look even better with dreads and facial hair, somehow):

Yes, Anubis, SG-1 was the one with MacGyver's Richard Dean Anderson, who now just guests and presumably still produces ("Gekko Productions") both shows and the crappy cartoon series. Anderson's character's complete lack of technical wizardry was a running joke, the opposite of MacGyver's "Gimme a paper clip and some chewing gum and I'll blow up a building" mentality.

No, it's never wrong to touch yourself when watching the Sci-Fi channel, or USA network's "The 4400." But if you can somehow get off on Anthony Michael Hall's bloated, orange complexion on "The Dead Zone," I don't wanna know about it.

Eeeeeewww. You all have conventionally poor taste, in both men and television.
"Survivor: Guatemala" starts Thursday! Now that is some quality T.V., starring that evil, emaciated hunk of reality, Jeff Probst. I can't wait.
As Jean Teasdale would say, hubba-hubba!

Aww... Brent. I HEART Jean! I was despondent for a week after her "Off-Season Santa" store in the strip mall burned down.

This thread reminds me of yet another Bill Maher New Rule:

Let TV shows die a natural death. Fans of the cancelled TV series Star Trek: Enterprise are trying to raise enough money on their own to pay for another season. It's either that or go outside. So far they've raised $3 million, largely by not dating. Hey, 'Trekkies, if you really want to donate money to a lost cause, try MoveOn.org.

Awwwwww, Circle6! rolleyes.gif

But I don't know about the natural-TV-death thing. I morally support the huge fan-based effort to save Michael Varton from the Page Six-reported jealous wrath of Jennifer Garner on the set of "Alias"...and I don't even watch "Alias". I just think that Varton's, errrr..."sex scene" (what exactly would one call that?) near the end of "One Hour Photo" was....uhm...errr....very...

I really like Michael Vartan. I better just leave it at that. Heh.

And Stella --- I mean, Jean --- needs to get her groove back. I feel awful for her, too. A thoughtful glance at her, cough, resume, suggests she could find happiness at another Fashion Bug, maybe, one where she wouldn't be under the thumb of that scary Roz chick.

Three million. What is that, the opening teaser and a few bars of theme music? Don't underestimate "fan devotion," though. Farscape aficionados resurrected the characters for a loose-end-tie-up of a miniseries/telemovie, which was actually pretty good. Putting them on SG-1 was a bit jarring, as it unfortunately points up Browder's type-casting (Fratboy Astronaut), but it gives Black an opportunity to smile and chew scenery.

And Brent, BB (one-note acting or not) kicks Probst's bony ass anyday.

Yay, it's back on. So's Galactica, for that matter. I'm officially unavailable for the Friday night dates I was never going to have anyway! Well, if asked, I think VCR still works, but the date better end by midnight. In a nutshell...

I can't stand the new "Ori" plotline. Just because religious fanatics now come from another galaxy (we always knew that anyway) doesn't make the story arc any less predictable. The season opener/two-parter conclusion was more deus ex machina than I care to see in my science fiction, but what the hey. Atlantis was similarly hurried and unremarkable, but worth sitting through. I hope they do more cross-promotion with the original series, since it seems more or less inevitable. BSG is shaping up OK, though I can't imagine they're going to kill of Mme. President so soon. She said something earlier about getting a new Cylon body. Wonder where that'll go [nudge, wink].

"Atlantis" is getting boring. I don't like the religious plotline. If they can't write decent stories after this many ears, they should put the two shows back together. As it is, I've seen some really bizarre cartoon version of the series, supposedly set in the far distant future. Well, that's just got to play havoc with the plots, like "Oh, so everybody survives another few thousand years? Then why should I worry?"

ANd they're not putting BB into enough tight outfits [snort].

Heh heh. What's not to like. Jason Momoa is ex-BayWatch beefcake. Surely you've heard of it? I'm told Hasselhoff is big in Germany, and some of his smarm may have rubbed off on the UK on its way thru. happy.gif

I'm ignoring the b-word *shudders* ... although we didn't get the version of it that the gorgeous Jason was in. He looks better with the dreds, and the guns.. and the violence.... and the clothes... I'd prefer him without clothes mind you ...ahem...*wipes away the drool* wink.gif

Pale could always Photoshop one of those B-word shots onto the Ronin character's head if you want.

I'm sorry, but I have better things to do with my time:

Click each for, erm...larger. (and will someone please tell me when he appeared on CSI:Miami and WHY I was not sent an engraved invitation to watch it?)

I'm sure everybody that gives a shit already knows, but the "Gates" are back on. The season premiered yesterday, sure to be repeated all weekend, at odd hours. It was the typical tease, opening with a two-parter on bothSG-1 and Atlantis. I really don't get what people see in Joe Flannigan. Even Ben Browder (above, I suppose) is getting a little dogged and dull. They let Claudia Black camp up every scene she's in, though. I hope she's enjoying herself. I still can't get accustomed to how they re-use the Doctor guy from Star Trek: Voyager. Is it just me, or do the same people keep appearing in all these sci-fi shows, over and over?

I'm not enough of a fanboi to be entirely sure, but I believe the cadre of actors who frequent the genre are quite the inside joke. A lot of TV has become 'user-savvy,' right down to Michael Weatherly's comment on CBS' NCIS that "Jessica Alba is hot." Since they're now re-running the both of them in Dark Angel, I guess it's supposed to be a real 'alternate universe irony' aside. I've noticed the same people on that shoddy Twilight Zone redux, and its far improved cousin, The Outer Limits. They're really very good actors, often working through prosthetics and outlandish dialogue.

We will control all that you see and hear, indeed. wink.gif

Just an FYI, a full "work copy" of Stargate: Ark of Truth has been released/leaked to the Internet and various P2P sharing networks. It's a ~685Mb AVI with some audio channel difficulties (the stereo tracks are there, but I had to run it in a bare-bones editing program called MPEG Streamclip to get the sound to play, rather than Quicktime or another more commonly used player). There are also some visual FX missing (and the credits), toward the end, but it's otherwise complete. I'd give it a four-outta-five for action and wrapping up the Ori plotline rather tidily, but I'm more eager to see Stargate: Continuum, the 2nd--and supposedly last--direct-to-DVD production.

No spoilers, unless anybody wants some, but I will give one "advanced screening" hint: Replicators.

General Hammond has died of a "massive heart attack." Actor Don S. Davis was 65.
